Offshore Dynamical Positioning Specialist

動力定位專家職位(上海/煙臺/青島/大連/南通)

Reporting:
Reports to the Chief Mate or Master.

Supervision:
Supervises the Assistant Dynamic Positioning Operator (ADPO).

Prerequisites / qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education.
Nautical Institute Dynamic Positioning Training courses.
Knowledge of all technical calculations required for the safe operation of the marine aspect of the rig.
Basic computer skills.
Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
Completion of Region Specific DPO OJT
Completion of Rig Specific OJT
Valid home country and flag state GMDSS radio operators’ license
Completion of ISM familiarization material
Valid home country radar observers certification endorsed for ARPA

Basic function:
Operate the automated and fixed station keeping system of the rig.

Duties and responsibilities:
Operations/Maintenance:

Operate dynamic positioning (DP) equipment.
Maintain logbook of all position keeping equipment and relevant engine room equipment.
Set up operational parameters for the DP system – ensure system data is correct.
Advise the Senior DPO, Chief Mate or Master of potential position loss.
Perform Preventive Maintenance on DP equipment – ensure the system’s performance is not degraded by defective sensors.
Ensure that all defects and anomalies are reported to the Chief Mate or Master and relevant department heads. Maintain records of these and ensure they are corrected adequately.
Assist with the operation of the ballast control system where applicable.
Operate and understand ballast control system, power management system bilge system, ventilation system, engine room auxiliaries, drill water system, fuel system, and fire and gas system - Maintain the rig in a stable condition and at the correct draft and trim.
Monitor required engine room alarms and signals and call for assistance prior to problem developing.
Monitor all DP room alarms including DP system, VMS, and fire and gas alarms. Prioritize alarm response as necessary to maintain DP system operability by calling for technical assistance or additional DP room help.
Periodically visit the drill floor for familiarization with current rig personnel and operations.
Assist as directed by Senior DPO with rig projects and maintenance.
Completion of company ISM familiarization material
Assist with running hydrophones and subsea beacons.
Manage the deck crews working outside with them as required.
Sound ballast and bulk tanks. Assist with loading and sampling of bulk products as required.
Assist Chief Mate and Master with deck operations as required.
Ensure there is adequate power and reserves of power for the maintenance of position and operations – give immediate attention to any problems.
Operate the vessel’s radios as needed
Operate vessel’s radars as needed
Perform emergency duties and responsibilities as stated on the Station Bill, Emergency Response Manual and DP Emergency Response Plan.
Completion of company’s DP Lessons Learned Course.
Monitor work boat operations with cameras where possible

The DPO shall have all of the qualifications of the ADPO (Please see ADPO qualification requirements before signing off as understanding the qualifications required of DPO), plus the following:

Assessed by the master as capable of taking sole charge of a DP watch
Assessed by the master as capable of providing supervision to ADPOs for any DP operation that the particular vessel may become engaged in, [while in the same work space and maintaining continuous oversight of the activities of the ADPO].
Complete knowledge of the set-up and use of all position reference systems, including failure modes and mitigation of problems
Complete knowledge of the set-up and use of all environmental and motion sensors, including failure modes and mitigation of problems.
Assist in the use of the Data Logger and MS Excel to analyse DP and Power Plant data for incident analysis and identification of improvement opportunities.
Complete knowledge of the set-up and use of the data logger to save data, export data, and print out data charts for analysis.
Detailed understanding of all DP and Vessel/Power Management Systems user settings, how they affect operations, and able to contribute to decisions of how to adjust user settings for changing conditions or operations.
Complete and detailed understanding of which displayed data on DP and Vessel/Power Management Systems are real data vs. calculated data, and understanding of how the origin of these data affect operations.
Detailed understanding of every line item on the WSOG and sufficient understanding of all issues which go into the derivation of the WSOG to contribute to decisions on how to modify the WSOG for ongoing operations or conditions.
Understanding of the Electronic Riser and Stack Angle Sensors sufficient to be able to calibrate sensors, verify functional sensors, and detect defective sensors.
Detailed understanding of the DP computer/control system(s), including changing between systems and the various modes of operation
Complete familiarity with DP Simulator, if applicable.
Detailed knowledge of operational theory, failure modes, testing, and problem mitigation of thruster units and associated systems
Detailed knowledge of operational theory, failure modes, and problem mitigation of power supplies used for DP – AC, UPS, DC.
Detailed knowledge of Operational capabilities and footprints
Comprehensive knowledge of vessel's operations manuals and communications systems.
Take an active roll during FMEA and accept ance trials including black out tests, power chop, and phase back tests.

Detailed knowledge of emergency procedures and actions due to failures of:

Input systems
Wind sensors
Computers
Commands
Feed back
Generator/power
Thrusters
Sensors
Any other systems/equipment relevant to the DP

QHSE:

Play an active part in the weekly meetings, Quality Improvement Plan program, and all other Company safety management systems.
Ensure a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig.
Assist the Senior DPO, Chief Mate or Master during emergency situations and emergency protection responses as designated on the station bill.
Assist in communicating all Company QHSE policies and other to all rig personnel.
Perform planned maintenance of life saving, firefighting and other marine equipment

Personnel:

Meets the training requirements as per the applicable training matrix
Mentor, develop and train crew members to ensure they are competent to work at their next job level.
Train the Assistant DPO and ensure that he/she acquires adequate experience on the DP console.
Perform annual performance appraisal for the Assistant DPO.
